Why this game gets boring.
I know why many people including me cannot pay this game more than an hour at a time, Bacause it gates annoying and boring.
Why does it get boring you ask? Well.. Basically, all you do is kill, There is no fishing, mining, crafting, shops (merchants suck), no bank, All there is is killing. and WTB WTS WTT Isnt a very good trade base, why not have shops so you wont have to deal with morons?, And with stuff like mining, and fishing, and mabe even marrage, You would have things to do other than find groups and hack n slash. Agree with me or not, This is why the game gets boring. Last edited by Shadowz; Jun 04, 2005 at 09:20 PM // 21:20.. |

I would have to agree with you to a point. Recently I've found myself getting bored very quickly with the RP part of the game. I'm just a casual player, and even switching characters doesn't help much...in fact it adds the grind back into the game that GW was supposed to eleminate. PVP is where the game gets it's longevity. You'll need to start trying that out soon.

I don't see it as mindless killing. I see it as working with a team to accomplish objectives. Sometimes you have great teams and it's easy which can be fun. Sometimes you have not so great groups and it's a challenge, which can be fun.
I just started a mesmer finally and on the Nolani mission the other night, half the party died due to over-aggroing (which only left my res signet that had already been used). So just my mesmer and a ranger cleared out all the charr for that mission, and it was fun using strategy and tactics and cooperation. Maybe you just need to change your perspective. I go out with objectives, which makes the killing just a part of completing those objectives. The other night, objective was to do a couple missions with a bonus goal of trying to find a new recruit for my guild. Completed both and it was fun. I'll admit if you let yourself get caught up in farming and the like it can get boring. If you play when you don't feel like playing because you want to accomplish something, it gets boring and annoying. Playing with hench all the time can get boring (they're just no good at conversation). Just play to have to fun and the rest fills in on it's own. Edit: Everquest had it's own terrible tedium. How much of that game was spent trying to get in a group so you could sit in one spot doing mindless killing for hours? |

I agree on the current trade system being a bit "out dated"... but really, it's a pvp game... if you want all that mindless, click and hope to do something(fishing, mining, ect...) then go pay monthly for that boring crap...

If all your doing is clicking, then your doing something wrong. I suggest you get into a decent guild and you'll be able to explore a more positive side of Guild Wars. All this depth crap is really annoying, fishing and crafting is not fun. Going out and finding that new skill is. About PvP, people don't play it for the ladder they play it for fun. Creating a complex build to slaughter your foes and then executing it and finding out it rocks is very enjoyable, I love both forms of gameplay and I will continue to play Guild Wars for a very long period of time. Everyone who complains are people who have no guild or a crappy one so they only see the bad side of the community. That or they just play to much and breeze through all the content. People shouldn't play more then an hour a day and I assure you it's more fun that way. Guild Wars has made me happy for the last three months and I don't see any reason to leave until the game is shut off. As long as ArenaNet brings in content, I'm good. ArenaNet= Best developer ever. --Ginko |

Actuallly a game being free or pay to play does influence players. I know for a fact that many won't play certain games because they charge. So your opinion is wrong.
Games need to have depth to maintain longevity and replay value. God you act like you never played another game before.... Its ok you're happy, but you being happy doesn't mean everyone should be or is. You seem too narrowminded. It doesn't matter if you are guilded, in a crappy guild(define crappy) or solo. thats a stupid argument. ArenaNet isnt the best developer. You sound like a friggin brainwashed fan boy. I agree that this game is short-sighted on PvE and more focus on competiveness. (Ie. Guild, balance, cap).
However that doesnt mean just because GW focuses on PvP, the PvE has to be handicapped. The cute emotes add a lot to the RPG element already, GW just needs more stuff like that. Decorations, etc. My idea is to have more accessories for pure style reasons: earrings, shades, i dunno. If anyone played Gunbound of Quiz Quiz, ud know what i mean. |

Also, i have another pretty important point: the wholes idea of having instanced areas for u to explore is negated by the fact you need a group to survive the mass mobs in some areas. Make the lands more frielndly to explore by yourself. Thats a reason I loved pre-Searing. I would spend hours just exploring areas. That doesnt mean u have to make it easy, its just annoying when the only reason u need to drag Henchies along is to compensate for the higher number of mobs. Lower the mobs so we can explore ourselves. my 2 cents.

I'm pre-dominantly PvE, but I bought this game knowing it's main focus was on the Guild PvP concept. So I didn't expect GW to be super-RPG/PVE. It's fun to log in now and then and do the missions or whatever I have left to do and have no complaints about the RPG aspect.
In future expansions I believe they're planning on more quests and areas and the like. If you're bored of the PvE now, put the game aside, play other games that are out there, and come back later when you think they've done enough updating to make it worth checking out again. Or just to make it fresh again because of absence. No loss, since it's free, right? Edit - about cost of gaming - if I get 30-40 hours of gameplay I think I've gotten my money's worth, even if I get bored of a game in a month. I'd only have to see 5-6 movies to equal a game cost, and that's far less than 30-40 hours for that $60. Last edited by CatLady; Jun 05, 2005 at 12:21 AM // 00:21.. |
